Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, keep water available and watch intake through the dry summer months.

Exercise and routine through the dry summer months in Jaipur

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Jaipur, summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. A light summer trim (for double-coated breeds, never shave to the skin) helps comfort.

Is the Greyhound Puppy right for Jaipur?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Greyhound Puppy adapts well to Jaipur on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Keep unlimited fresh water available and add a cooling mat or shaded resting spot.

Apartment living with a Greyhound Puppy

Flats are the norm in Jaipur, so indoor enrichment carries real weight — puzzle feeders, chew toys, and a resting spot away from through-traffic. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Most homes here are apartments and gated flats, so a large-sized breed that adapts to indoor living is a practical choice. Owners throughout the northern belt tend to find this dog a gentle, quiet, fast companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Jaipur is hottest in May, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to June. A Greyhound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are September to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
