Exercise and routine through the dry summer months in Kathumar

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Kathumar, the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Keep unlimited fresh water available and add a cooling mat or shaded resting spot.

Living with a Afghan Hound Puppy in Kathumar

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Afghan Hound Puppy. Owners throughout the northern belt tend to find this dog a aloof, dignified, independent companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Space and the outdoors with a Afghan Hound Puppy

Homes around Kathumar usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, keep water available and watch intake through the dry summer months.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Kathumar is hottest in May, averaging 43°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to June. A Afghan Hound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are September to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
