Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In hot semi-desert conditions water matters as much as food — the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Living with a Kanni Puppy in Kotputli

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Kanni Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Health and vet care in Kotputli

Preventive care in Kotputli is largely a matter of anticipating the dry summer months. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. A light summer trim (for double-coated breeds, never shave to the skin) helps comfort.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Is the Kanni Puppy right for Kotputli?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Kanni Puppy adapts well to Kotputli on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Keep unlimited fresh water available and add a cooling mat or shaded resting spot.

Kotputli is hottest in May, averaging 42°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to June. A Kanni needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, September, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
