The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Chungthang?

Chungthang is cold mountain — winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority — and the Pointer Puppy is a large-sized, loyal, loving, confident breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Space and the outdoors with a Pointer Puppy

Homes around Chungthang usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Pointer Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners across the North-Eastern states tend to find this dog a loyal, loving, confident companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Grooming and coat care in Chungthang

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, a Pointer Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the cold winter season. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 17°C in June, so heat is rarely the problem for a Pointer that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about -6°C in January. A Pointer feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

No month here is easy on every count for a Pointer, so plan the first two weeks around a cool, dry room rather than the calendar.
