The city sits at about 2,242 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 24°C in March, so heat is rarely the problem for a Kanni that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 5°C in January. A Kanni feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

Most of the year's rain falls in October. Check for ticks after every walk.

No month here is easy on every count for a Kanni, so plan the first two weeks around a cool, dry room rather than the calendar.
