Space and the outdoors with a Pointer Puppy

Homes around Tekmal usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Tekmal?

The Pointer Puppy does well in Tekmal, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds. For a loyal, loving, confident, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Maintain a regular grooming routine suited to the breed's coat.

Living with a Pointer Puppy in Tekmal

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Pointer Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners throughout peninsular India tend to find this dog a loyal, loving, confident companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Grooming and coat care in Tekmal

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds, a Pointer Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the brief pre-monsoon heat. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Maintain a regular grooming routine suited to the breed's coat.

Tekmal is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Pointer needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 14°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from July to September, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, June, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
