Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Dunda

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Dunda, winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Dunda?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Pointer Puppy adapts well to Dunda on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

Health and vet care in Dunda

Preventive care in Dunda is largely a matter of anticipating the cold winter season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

Summer here peaks in May at about 32°C. That is manageable for a Pointer, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winter nights fall to about 3°C in January. A Pointer feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are April, May and October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
