Is the German Spitz Puppy right for Pauri?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, and a small-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The German Spitz Puppy adapts well to Pauri on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Grooming and coat care in Pauri

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Pauri being cool hill, winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Pauri

The cold winter season is the stretch that needs planning. Winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a German Spitz Puppy than intensity ever will. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

Feeding a small dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

The city sits at about 1,532 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 31°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a German Spitz that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 3°C in January. A German Spitz feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new German Spitz puppy, the easiest months to arrive are April to May: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
