The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Rishikesh

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Rishikesh, winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

Is the Maltipoo Puppy right for Rishikesh?

Rishikesh is cool hill — winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority — and the Maltipoo Puppy is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In cool hill conditions water matters as much as food — winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Health and vet care in Rishikesh

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the cold winter season rather than during it. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

Rishikesh is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from May to June. A Maltipoo needs real protection from that: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C. A light sweater helps a small Maltipoo on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Maltipoo puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
