Health and vet care in Rishikesh

Preventive care in Rishikesh is largely a matter of anticipating the cold winter season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Rishikesh?

The Pointer Puppy does well in Rishikesh, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others. For a loyal, loving, confident, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

Living with a Pointer Puppy in Rishikesh

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners throughout the northern belt tend to find this dog a loyal, loving, confident companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Space and the outdoors with a Pointer Puppy

Homes around Rishikesh usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Rishikesh is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from May to June. A Pointer needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C. A Pointer has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
