Grooming and coat care in Bhowraguri

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, a Chattering Lorikeet's coat and skin want checking more often through the extended rainy season. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In high-rainfall tropical conditions water matters as much as food — near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.
