Feeding a medium bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a medium build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In monsoon-heavy conditions water matters as much as food — the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Health and vet care in Lanka

Preventive care in Lanka is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the bird; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Is the Blue Fronted Amazon right for Lanka?

Lanka is monsoon-heavy — the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline — and the Blue Fronted Amazon is a medium-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.
