Feeding a small bird here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Living with a Chattering Lorikeet in Rangjuli

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a small-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners in the North-East tend to find this bird a family friendly, good with kids companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Is the Chattering Lorikeet right for Rangjuli?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and a small-sized bird feels that more than an owner expects. The Chattering Lorikeet adapts well to Rangjuli on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Health and vet care in Rangjuli

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the extended rainy season rather than during it. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.
