Living with a Hahn's Macaw in Udalguri

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a small-sized breed to exercise at home. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Hahn's Macaw right for Udalguri?

Udalguri is monsoon-heavy — near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention — and the Hahn's Macaw is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Grooming and coat care in Udalguri

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Udalguri being monsoon-heavy, near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Feeding a small bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In monsoon-heavy conditions water matters as much as food — near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.
