Living with a Rainbow Lorikeet in Udalguri

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a small-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners in the North-East tend to find this bird a family friendly, good with kids companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Is the Rainbow Lorikeet right for Udalguri?

Udalguri is high-rainfall tropical — near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention — and the Rainbow Lorikeet is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Feeding a small bird here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Health and vet care in Udalguri

Preventive care in Udalguri is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the bird; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.
