Space and the outdoors with a Yellow Naped Amazon

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids bird the fit is usually good either way.

Devkar is hottest in May, averaging 44°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Yellow Naped Amazon needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C. A light sweater helps a medium Yellow Naped Amazon on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Yellow Naped Amazon bird, the easiest months to arrive are February, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
