The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Is the Blue Fronted Amazon right for Quepem?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and a medium-sized bird feels that more than an owner expects. The Blue Fronted Amazon adapts well to Quepem on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Grooming and coat care in Quepem

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Quepem being coastal tropical, moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Feeding a medium bird here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a medium frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.
