Health and vet care in Junagadh

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the dry summer months rather than during it. Keep unlimited fresh water available and add a cooling mat or shaded resting spot.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Exercise and routine through the dry summer months in Junagadh

The dry summer months is the stretch that needs planning. Summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Yellow Naped Amazon than intensity ever will. Keep unlimited fresh water available and add a cooling mat or shaded resting spot.

Feeding a medium bird here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a medium frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, keep water available and watch intake through the dry summer months.

Junagadh is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Yellow Naped Amazon needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 12°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Yellow Naped Amazon bird, the easiest months to arrive are October to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
