Grooming and coat care in Iritty

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, a Red Collared Lorikeet's coat and skin want checking more often through the long monsoon. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Health and vet care in Iritty

Preventive care in Iritty is largely a matter of anticipating the long monsoon. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the bird; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.
