Grooming and coat care in Diskit

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, a Red Collared Lorikeet's coat and skin want checking more often through the cold winter season. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Is the Red Collared Lorikeet right for Diskit?

Diskit is cold mountain — crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter — and the Red Collared Lorikeet is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Space and the outdoors with a Red Collared Lorikeet

Homes around Diskit usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A small-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.
