Grooming and coat care in Mathili

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, a Blue Fronted Amazon's coat and skin want checking more often through the long monsoon. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Space and the outdoors with a Blue Fronted Amazon

Homes around Mathili usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A medium-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Feeding a medium bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a medium build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In coastal tropical conditions water matters as much as food — the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Blue Fronted Amazon. Owners across the eastern region tend to find this bird a family friendly, good with kids companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Mathili is hottest in April, averaging 39°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Blue Fronted Amazon needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 13°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and August is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Blue Fronted Amazon bird, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
