Motunga is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Nanday Conure needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 12°C. A light sweater helps a small Nanday Conure on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Nanday Conure bird, the easiest months to arrive are February, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
