Muruda is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Rainbow Lorikeet needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C. A light sweater helps a small Rainbow Lorikeet on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Rainbow Lorikeet bird, the easiest months to arrive are February and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
