The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Grooming and coat care in Puttasing

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Puttasing being coastal tropical, moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Puttasing

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. Moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Chattering Lorikeet than intensity ever will. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

The vaccination record travels with the bird; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Puttasing is coastal tropical — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips — and the Chattering Lorikeet is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Puttasing is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Chattering Lorikeet needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 13°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Chattering Lorikeet bird, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
