Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Health and vet care in Pushkar

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the dry summer months rather than during it. Keep unlimited fresh water available and add a cooling mat or shaded resting spot.

Feeding a small bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In hot, dry conditions water matters as much as food — summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Grooming and coat care in Pushkar

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Pushkar being hot, dry, summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. A light summer trim (for double-coated breeds, never shave to the skin) helps comfort.

Pushkar is hottest in May, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from May to June. A Dusky Lorikeet needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 6°C. A light sweater helps a small Dusky Lorikeet on the coldest nights.

There is no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in August.

For a new Dusky Lorikeet bird, the easiest months to arrive are March, September, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
