Grooming and coat care in Pushkar

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, a Red Lorikeet's coat and skin want checking more often through the dry summer months. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Keep unlimited fresh water available and add a cooling mat or shaded resting spot.

Exercise and routine through the dry summer months in Pushkar

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Pushkar, the dry heat means hydration and shade matter more than almost anything else, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Watch for signs of overheating — heavy panting, drooling or lethargy — during peak afternoons.

Pushkar is hottest in May, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from May to June. A Red Lorikeet needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 6°C. A light sweater helps a small Red Lorikeet on the coldest nights.

There is no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in August.

For a new Red Lorikeet bird, the easiest months to arrive are March, September, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
