Exercise and routine through the dry summer months in Pushkar

The dry summer months is the stretch that needs planning. Daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Scarlet Macaw than intensity ever will. Walk early in the morning or after sunset when the ground is cool, never on hot pavement.

Feeding a large bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In warm and arid conditions water matters as much as food — daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Living with a Scarlet Macaw in Pushkar

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners throughout the northern belt tend to find this bird a family friendly, good with kids companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.
