Feeding a small bird here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

Is the Dusky Lorikeet right for Rabdang?

Rabdang is cold mountain — winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority — and the Dusky Lorikeet is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

Grooming and coat care in Rabdang

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, a Dusky Lorikeet's coat and skin want checking more often through the cold winter season. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Rabdang

The cold winter season is the stretch that needs planning. Winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Dusky Lorikeet than intensity ever will. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.
