Grooming and coat care in Pauri

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, a Rainbow Lorikeet's coat and skin want checking more often through the cold winter season. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Pauri

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Pauri, winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Older pets may need joint support as cold can stiffen movement.

Space and the outdoors with a Rainbow Lorikeet

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids bird the fit is usually good either way.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Health and vet care in Pauri

Preventive care in Pauri is largely a matter of anticipating the cold winter season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The city sits at about 1,532 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 31°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a Rainbow Lorikeet that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 3°C in January. A Rainbow Lorikeet feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Rainbow Lorikeet bird, the easiest months to arrive are April to May: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
