Grooming and coat care in Thal

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Thal being cold mountain, the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

Feeding a small bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In cold mountain conditions water matters as much as food — the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.
