Grooming and coat care in Devikulam

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

Is the Siamese Kitten right for Devikulam?

Devikulam is humid coastal — the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important — and the Siamese Kitten is a small-sized, social, vocal, smart breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the kitten approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Health and vet care in Devikulam

Preventive care in Devikulam is largely a matter of anticipating the long monsoon. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the kitten; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Feeding a small cat here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In humid coastal conditions water matters as much as food — the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The city sits at about 1,594 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 26°C in March, so heat is rarely the problem for a Siamese that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C. A light sweater helps a small Siamese on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from May to November, and June is usually the wettest month. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Siamese kitten, the easiest months to arrive are March to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
