Feeding a large cat here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In cool hill conditions water matters as much as food — winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Space and the outdoors with a Siberian Kitten

Homes around Tejam usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Living with a Siberian Kitten in Tejam

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Siberian Kitten room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners across North India tend to find this cat a affectionate, playful, strong companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Is the Siberian Kitten right for Tejam?

The Siberian Kitten does well in Tejam, with one caveat worth knowing up front: winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority. For a affectionate, playful, strong, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Older pets may need joint support as cold can stiffen movement.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the kitten approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

The city sits at about 998 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summer here peaks in June at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Siberian, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 6°C.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Siberian kitten, the easiest months to arrive are October to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
