Is the Mudhol Hound Puppy right for Baghbor?

Baghbor is high-rainfall tropical — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential — and the Mudhol Hound Puppy is a large-sized, alert, loyal, athletic breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Grooming and coat care in Baghbor

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Baghbor being high-rainfall tropical, rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Health and vet care in Baghbor

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the extended rainy season rather than during it. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Baghbor

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. Rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Mudhol Hound Puppy than intensity ever will. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Summer here peaks in May at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Mudhol Hound, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C.

The rainy season runs from April to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Mudhol Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
