Living with a Kanni Puppy in Diphu

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Kanni Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Is the Kanni Puppy right for Diphu?

The Kanni Puppy does well in Diphu, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline. For a loyal, shy, alert, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Diphu

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Diphu, the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In lush, wet tropical conditions water matters as much as food — the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Summer here peaks in April at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Kanni, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
