Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In monsoon-heavy conditions water matters as much as food — the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Space and the outdoors with a Pointer Puppy

Homes around Thanlon usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Thanlon?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Pointer Puppy adapts well to Thanlon on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Thanlon

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. The green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Pointer Puppy than intensity ever will. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

The city sits at about 1,066 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 28°C in April, so heat is rarely the problem for a Pointer that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 5°C. A Pointer has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
