Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Lunglei

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. Consistency does more for a Kanni Puppy than intensity ever will. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

The city sits at about 1,014 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 29°C in April, so heat is rarely the problem for a Kanni that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 6°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from May to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
