Is the Kanni Puppy right for Dentam?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Kanni Puppy adapts well to Dentam on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Dentam

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Dentam, winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Older pets may need joint support as cold can stiffen movement.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Health and vet care in Dentam

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the cold winter season rather than during it. Older pets may need joint support as cold can stiffen movement.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

The city sits at about 1,715 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 27°C in June, so heat is rarely the problem for a Kanni that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 4°C in January. A Kanni feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are May and October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
