Health and vet care in Namchi

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the cold winter season rather than during it. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

Space and the outdoors with a Kanni Puppy

Homes around Namchi usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Grooming and coat care in Namchi

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Namchi being temperate highland, the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Kanni Puppy right for Namchi?

The city sits at about 1,427 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 26°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a Kanni that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 5°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are April and October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
