Health and vet care in Jorethang

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the cold winter season rather than during it. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

Is the Kanni Puppy right for Jorethang?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Kanni Puppy adapts well to Jorethang on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In cool hill conditions water matters as much as food — crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Jorethang

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
