The city sits at about 912 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 30°C in June, so heat is rarely the problem for a Kanni that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
